Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has barred its students from playing the famous Tencent game, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) in the men's hostel, according to posts doing rounds on social media platforms.
Surprisingly, the female students on campus are free to play for chicken dinners.

The venerated engineering institute's warden sent an email to the male students, asking them to "concentrate on physical games or sports and give more importance to their career growth." The institute has promised strict disciplinary action for any student who doesn't comply with the new rules.
VIT is facing a lot of backlash from students who are declaring that they are adults and can make their own decisions.
One post on social media platform Reddit said, "No one views college students as adults in India. At least, until you commit a crime of some sort. Then you are the young baddie rogue type guy."
The college has been at odds with students previously over disciplinary issues. In 2013, a female student and a member of college staff were sacked for questioning the difference in curfew timings for female and male students.
Students have questioned leaving female students out of this new regime, saying that it points to obvious gender bias and stereotyping that only men would play a game like this.
PUBG has been named as the most famous online battle game in 2018, leaving behind Fortnite and Freefire.
The college's decision could have been driven from the fact that the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences reported many cases of addiction to PUBG.
The World Health Organisation had put out a report in June this year recognising gaming as a mental health disorder.
